For a thousand reasons this song by John Legend sweet's me. The first hearing was the best. i try to listen to it as little as possible. I have'nt even bought the album yet just so I don't get tired of it. It is one of those classic sticky sweet soul gems. As classic soul connossiiuer i was listen to an instrumental version of "Stormy" recorded by the Meters, and noticed the startling resemblance in melody and chord changes to boot. Ready like Freddy was I to jump on the plaiurism band wagon only to find out that John knew and heard of the song and thus was inspired to do the tune. I am dying to hear the vocal original now. Either way it is a beautiful strong song with a bedrock retro rythm section. Who cares if it is not a J.L origial the song stands the test of time. Plus he is almost as good looking as me. Ten out of ten John. A tour de force. I cannot wait to see him in conert. Great message. We should all save room for love. Peace. Mr.Music Wolverhampton, England

I was listening to my favorite Dish Music Channel, Sirius Jazz Cafe today. The moment this song started playing it brought back memories of my youth and one of my favorite groups, “The Classics IV” and instinctively I started to sing the words to their hit song “Stormy”. However, when I turned to the television screen to find out the artist's name, I was surprised to find out the title of the song was "Save Room" performed by John Legend. Curious, I did a web search for ("Save Room" “John Legend”, Stormy, "Classics IV") and found numerous resulting hits. Yes, fellow song enthusiasts and "Name That Tune" aficionados, "Save Room" is INDEED, a remake of the Classics IV "Stormy". It great to hear classics like these revived and played in such a fantastic medium as Smooth Jazz. I LOVED IT! GREAT JOB JOHN!!!

If this blog too fails to convince you, please go to the John Legends MySpace site:
http://www.myspace.com/johnlegend and read the following excerpt:

Once Again, John's new album, is many things, chief among them, it's a pop/soul album fueled by intelligence, intuition, sensuality, spirit and a creativity made possible when which includes Raphael Saadiq, Kanye West, Craig Street and will.i.am, who brought the lead single, "Save Room," to John. Breezy and sexy, "Save Room" is a joyful, cool love song, inspired by an old AM radio single, "Stormy," by the Classics IV (a 60's Top 40 band best-known for "Spooky"). As John recalls, "will brought the sample. I didn't even know the original. I just knew it was a nice organ sound and wanted to write to it. I just started mumbling along to it, finding my place in the melody and it worked for me."

For all you non-believers, this should be the final and definitive answer. End of story!!! PS: Amazing people can’t hear the obvious, much less concede they MAY be wrong. Smooth Jazz Jean

The song is pretty good. I dont like it as much as "Stormy" by the Classics IV which is apparently where he got the melody and the way to sing it. Find and listen to the song before you talk about how original and different this one is.
