Bullet For My Valentine continue to do Bridgend proud with 'Waking The Demon,' the fourth single from their 'Scream, Aim, Fire' album.

While 'Scream, Aim Fire' was a bit of a hit and miss affair, 'Waking The Demon' is a snarling metalcore bull's eye. It sees Bullet experiment with industrial drumbeats and chugging guitars to addictive effect, but the chorus is pure, old school Bullet: a slab of stadium-sized, snappy metalcore that's sure to have lighters held aloft whenever it's played live.

Bullet have carved out a niche for themselves by specialising in metal you can sing along to, and 'Waking The Demon' sees this formula perfected, with a spot-on balance of snarls and clean, accessible vocals that means you'll have the chance to scream yourself hoarse and sing your heart out, both in the space of a few seconds.

The only real downside is the verses have been re-recorded, so instead of the larynx-bothering screams aired on the album version, the single delivers clean, radio friendly vocals. While these may slip seamlessly into the overall song, it's disappointing that the forerunners of the British modern metal scene are willing to water themselves down so as not to alienate the masses.

'Waking The Demon' sees Bullet on blistering form. If you took a liking to any past Bullet song, then you'll fall in love with this, although the album version is better.
