Biography:

Until recently, there were nay-sayers in the Latin Music world who swore that a Merengue artist could never cross-over to wider pop success. Having already defied convention as a female artist who had reached superstar status in the normally male dominated genre of Merengue, while selling millions of records worldwide, Gisselle set-out to prove them wrong. With her recently released album Voy a Enamorarte ( BMG U.S. Latin - translation: I’m Going To Love You). Gisselle has effortlessly blended a collection of propulsive Merengue tracks and lush pop ballads - with immediate results. The album’s very first single - “Jurame” (translation: “Swear To Me”), Gisselle’s first-ever ballad, raced up Billboard’s “Hot Latin Tracks” chart to #1, topping Marc Anthony and Son By Four. The song is still residing firmly in the Top 10 after sixteen weeks on the chart. Meanwhile, Voy a Enamorarte has sold well over 100,000 copies in the U.S. alone.

Now, Gisselle is preparing to climb the charts again with the album’s second single - “Quien Te Hace El Amor” (translation: “Who Makes Love To You”), another sensuous ballad. The song is set to head to Spanish language radio shortly, and will be accompanied by a video showcasing Gisselle’s trademark elegant sexuality.

Born in New York City, Gisselle relocated to Puerto Rico with her family at the age of eleven. As a teenager, Gisselle found early success as a dancer for Menudo, and then went on to become internationally known as a highly accomplished model, dancer and soap opera actresses. It was at this point that she decided to return to her true love of music. Since the release of her first album in 1995, Gisselle has been one of Latin Music’s most prolific artists - releasing six albums in four years and quickly rising to the upper ranks of Merengue’s most popular artists - scoring numerous gold & platinum records. Although widely looked upon as one of the most beautiful women in the Latin world, it has truly been the pulse-pounding, heart-racing quality of Gisselle’s rhythms that have won her such a large legion of fans, one that is growing ever-larger with the success of Voy a Enamorarte.
